NEW MEETING VENUE
A resolution was passed at the October meeting of Post 130 to change the meeting place from AMVETS Hall to the VFW Post at 518 South 29th Street Fort Dodge, IA. The meeting schedule remains unchanged, the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday November 20th. Post 130 Membership for 2007 was approximately 230 we currently have 173 members paid up for 2008. Dues should be sent to our adjutant Chris Reicks at 1314 Ave. C #5. Dues are $35 of which six dollars is kept by the local post the balance is forward to the State and National Departments.

Also at the October meeting a resolution was made and passed to donate $200 dollars to establish a fund to assist families of soldiers killed in action. This was a request to the American Legion by Governor
Culver. It involved a family who could not afford to travel to Washington to attend their sons funeral at Arlington National Cemetery. It is assumed the funds advanced would be repaid to the fund when the family receives the insurance settlement.

EIGHT DISTRICT EVENT NOVERMBER 16
National Vice Commander Don Hayden of Le Center, MN will be at the Gowrie Post Home (1108 Main Street. The social hour will begin at 6:00 PM with and address by NVC Hayden at approximately 7:00 PM. Please mark this date on your calendar as I would like to see a decent number of Post 130 and ALR members at this meeting.

Post 130 AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS
Members of the Post 130 ALR were well represented at the poker run held to support Operation First Response. Post 130 members helped with canteen duties during the auction Friday evening. Over $6000 dollars was raised for OFR. A beautiful plaque donated buy Curt Bacon Auto Body was auctioned off and given to OFR founder Peggy Baker who traveled from her home in Virginia to attend the weekend festivities. The Post 130 American Legion Riders also voted to hold their meeting at the VFW post. The next meeting for them will be November 12th.
